Preparations for CSP8 involve a series of meetings of the ATT Working Groups as well as informal preparatory meetings. The first series of meetings took place as follows:
- Working Group on Effective Treaty Implementation (WGETI): 15-16 February 2022
Working Group on Treaty Universalization (WGTU): 16 February 2022
- Working Group on Transparency and Reporting (WGTR):17 February 2022
- 1st CSP8 Informal Preparatory Meeting: 18 February 2022

Registration, Participation and Testing of online platform
Registration
Each individual member of each delegation is requested to register online (here) for the April meetings by 22 April 2022. Anyone who has not registered online will not receive the Zoom link to access the meetings and may not be admitted to the online platform for the meetings.
Participation
The April meetings will be held in person with an option for those who cannot attend in person to participate remotely via the Zoom platform.
Participation at meeting Venue (CICG)
- COVID-19 measures at meeting venue: There are currently no COVID-19 measures or restrictions in place.
Virtual Participation (Zoom Platform)
- Access to the online platform: Delegates that have registered online to the meetings will receive the link to the meetings in the evening of Monday, 25 April 2022. The link will be valid for all sessions of the meetings.
- Interpretation from/into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish will be available during the meetings. Information on how to use the interpretation functionality on the Zoom platform is available here.
- Personal Zoom profile: Delegates are requested to ensure that the name of the State or Organization they represent and their surname are displayed in their Zoom profile. This will help the meeting facilitators to identify delegates correctly, if they are called on to speak.
- Headset: Delegates are encouraged to use a headset with integrated microphone. This will support interpreters in their work and contribute to good quality of interpretation.
Testing of online platform
Delegates who wish to test or confirm their ability to access the meeting platform are invited to participate in one of the testing sessions that will be hosted by the ATT Secretariat in advance of the meetings.
The ATT Secretariat will hold testing sessions on the following dates during the times indicated:
- 20 April 2022, 08:00 - 09:00 Geneva time (CET)
- 21 April 2022, 16:00 - 17:00 Geneva time (CET)

Side Events

Further to the announcement of the President of the Eighth Conference of States Parties (CSP8) to the Arms Trade Treaty that the second series of Working Group meetings and 2nd CSP8 Informal Preparatory Meeting scheduled to take place from 26-29 April 2022 will be held in person, with the option to access the meetings remotely, the ATT Secretariat is pleased to confirm that there are two options available for the holding of side events:
Option 1: in-person side events
Stakeholders are informed that it is possible to hold side events in person at the venue of the meetings in Geneva, the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG). Two rooms for each day of the meetings are reserved at the CICG for this purpose and the ATT Secretariat hereby invites proposals for side events.

Please submit your request by sending a completed to Ms. Sarah PARKER at the ATT Secretariat at: sarah.parker@thearmstradetreaty.org by 22 April 2022.
Option 2: virtual side events
Any State or organization that wishes/plans to hold a virtual side event or webinar during the week of 26-29 April 2022 is welcome to inform the ATT Secretariat of the event by sending an email to: info@thearmstradetreaty.org , and we will post the information on the webpage for the April meetings for all stakeholders to consult.
Please include the following information in your notification:
1) Title of the event,
2) Date of the event,
3) Time (including time zone), and
4) Access link (including a password, if required to access the event).
Please be advised that side event organisers will be responsible for hosting and facilitating such virtual events.
Anyone wishing to hold a side event in hybrid format should be aware that this requires the involvement of a technician at an additional cost of approximately USD 1,000.
Anyone planning to hold a side event during this week is encouraged to schedule the event to commence prior to the start or after the close of the plenary session taking place from 13:00-16:00 (CEST) each day of the meetings.
