26 - 30 APRIL 2021

Preparations for CSP7 involve a series of meetings of the ATT Working Groups as well as an informal preparatory meeting. The meetings will take place as follows:

  • Working Group on Effective Treaty Implementation (WGETI): 26-28 April 2021

  • Working Group on Treaty Universalization (WGTU): 27 April 2021
  • Working Group on Transparency and Reporting (WGTR): 28-29 April 2021
  • CSP7 Informal Preparatory Meeting: 30 April 2021

Side Events


Printable version of all side events

As there will not be an in-person meeting in Geneva for the ATT Working Group meetings and CSP7 Informal Preparatory Meeting taking place in April 2021, it will not be possible to hold in-person side events in Geneva.

However, any State or organization that wishes/plans to hold a virtual side event or webinar during the week of 26-30 April 2021 is welcome to inform the ATT Secretariat of the event by sending an email to: info@thearmstradetreaty.org , and we will post the information on the CSP7 preparatory meeting webpage for all stakeholders to consult.  Anyone planning to hold a side event during this week is encouraged to schedule the event to commence after the close of the plenary session (15:00 (CET)).

Please include the following information in your notification:

  1. Title of the event,
  2. Date of the event,
  3. Time (including time zone), and
  4. Access link (including a password, if required to access the event).

Please be advised that side event organisers will be responsible for hosting and facilitating such virtual events.

Registration, Participation and Testing of platform


Registration

Representatives are requested to register for the April meetings by 21 April 2021. Registration for the meetings involves two steps:

  1. Members of Delegation: State Parties, Signatory States, Observer States, International or Regional Organizations and Civil Society Organizations including NGOs and Industry wishing to participate in the upcoming Working Group Meetings and CSP7 Preparatory Meeting are requested to send an email to registration@thearmstradetreaty.org listing all delegates that will participate in the meeting indicating the full name and position of each delegate.
  2. Online Registration: In addition, each individual member of the delegation must register online (here).

Please note: Anyone who has not registered for the meetings will not be admitted to the meetings.

 

Participation

Access to the online platform: Participants that have registered to the meetings will receive the link to the meetings on the morning of 26 April 2021.

Interpretation from/into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish will be available during the meetings. Information on how to use the interpretation functionality is available here.

Delegates are encouraged:

  • to ensure that the name of the State or Organization they represent and their surname are displayed in their Zoom profile. This will help the meeting facilitators to identify participants correctly, if they are called on to speak. 
  • to use a headset with integrated microphone.

 

Testing of the online platform

Representatives who wish to test or confirm their ability to acess the meeting platform are invited to participate in one of the testing sessions that will be hosted by the ATT Secretariat in advance of the April meetings.

The ATT Secretariat will hold testing sessions on the following dates during the times indicated:

  • 13 April 2021, 08:00 - 10:00 Geneva time (CET)
  • 14 April 2021, 15:00 - 17:00 Geneva time (CET)

CSP7 Documents for consultation

As announced by the CSP7 President in his letter to ATT stakeholders on 22 February, remote consultations will be held intersessionally to finalise documentation arising out of the April meetings that will be submitted to CSP7 for consideration and possible adoption or endorsement.

Draft documents were circulated to ATT stakeholders on 04 June 2021 for consultation remotely (online) during the intersessional period leading up to the Seventh Conference of States Parties (CSP7):

CSP7 Informal consultations


CSP7 Informal consultations: 28 - 30 June 2021

As part of the remote consultations being held intersessionally to finalise documentation arising out of the April meetings that will be submitted to CSP7 for consideration and possible adoption or endorsement, informal consultations will be held virtually on 28-30 June 2021 by the CSP7 President and the WGTR Co-chairs as follows:

These informal consultations are open to all stakeholders.

 

Registration: Persons wishing to participate in the meetings are kindly requested to email the ATT Secretariat at registration@thearmstradetreaty.org indicating their full name (Name and Surname) and the State or organisation they represent. Persons who do not register for the meetings may face delays in being admitted to the meetings.

 

Speakers’ List (WGTR consultations only): Persons wishing to make a comment or intervention during the WGTR Co-chairs’ consultations on the draft proposed amendments to the Reporting templates, are requested to submit a request to the ATT Secretariat when they register for the meeting, including the following information:

 

  • ·       The Section(s) of the document the State or organization wishes to speak under (e.g., Initial Report cover page, or Initial Report section 6. Brokering)

Participants who have not requested to be included in the list of speakers will still be able to request to take the floor during the WGTR informal consultations by sending a message through the chat function requesting to take the floor and indicating the name of the State or organization that wishes to speak. However, the Co-chairs will call on persons on the list of speakers to speak first. When the list of speakers is exhausted, participants who have expressed a desire to speak (via the chat function) will be given the floor, if there is time available.

Interpretation: Interpretation into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish will be provided during the informal consultations.
